Our 2026 deep tech statistics report provides a clear look at how capital, research spending, and innovation are distributed across these new technologies.
As we explain in Konvoy’s latest guide, deep tech companies differ from traditional enterprise software or consumer internet startups.
They take longer to develop, need more funding, and rely on ongoing teamwork between venture capital, public funding, universities, and corporate R&D.
This report brings together data from venture capital monitors, market research firms, public policy documents, and R&D spending reports to give a clear picture of the deep tech industry in 2026.
Let's take a look at the findings.
In this analysis, you’ll find market size, venture capital investment, regional trends, and sector insights in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, and robotics.
1. The global deep tech market is expected to reach USD 173.7 billion in 2026, up from USD 154.3 billion in 2025. This highlights deep tech as a major commercial sector that spans many science and engineering industries.

Deep Tech Statistics for 2026 shows that this sector is a key part of global venture capital, public funding, and corporate R&D.
Artificial intelligence leads in both investment and business use. Biotechnology still needs the most funding, and robotics continues to grow.
On the other hand, Quantum computing depends on public funding because it takes longer to reach the market.
Still, trends could shift in 2027.
As we saw with the release of ChatGPT in 2023, the future often moves faster than we expect.
